Hi, it’s Ava! Today’s frequently asked question is…
“How do I determine my ring size? Can you resize a ring that
does not fit?”
Ah, the ever puzzling ring size! Ring size is an ever
changing part of life that can literally change with the weather. Ring sizes
are determined the same way for both women and men. Sizes are measures in
whole, half, and quarter increments. The average size of the ring finger is 7
for women and 10 for men. Size will vary depending on which finger and hand the
ring will be worn on. Did you know your dominant writing hand tends to be
bigger?
Weather and lifestyle changes can also affect ring size.
Sometimes hands will swell during warmer months, pregnancy, and physical
activity. Swollen knuckles later in life can also affect the way rings fit on
your finger.
Determining the ring size of another person can be tricky
especially if the person is not present during the sizing process. Mrs. Jenni
often asks the shoe size of the woman. Often times, shoe size and ring size are
the same or very close. Mind boggling, right? The best and most accurate way to
determine ring size is to have a jeweler use a ring sizer on your finger or a
ring mandrel on another ring that fits.
Jenni K. Jewelry does offering ring sizing on Jenni K.
designs and some non-Jenni K. designs. The ring will have to be examined by a
jeweler to determine if it can be resized. Gemstones tend to be harder to
resize because the stone(s) must be removed before resizing and reset
afterwards. The price of ring sizing varies.
